Description

This record has been in my collection, which I have now decided to sell, for some 40 years.  I have no experience in judging the quality of vinyl recordings, but have done a fair bit of research into the grading criteria and will apply this to the best of my knowledge and as honestly as possible.

I believe this is a first UK pressing, with the red and plum 1970 Atlantic label, showing cat. no. 2401002 and the Executive Producer: Peter Grant.  Side one has “Do What Thou Wilt” and side two “So Mote It Be” etched into the run out groove.  Both sides are nice and shiny with no significant marks or scratches.  The labels are clean and unmarked and the spindle hole shows only minor signs of wear.  This record was played often in its early days so shows signs of the wear you would expect.  There are a few faint clicks and pops here and there and a little crackle can be heard between tracks, but there are no skips or jumps and the dynamics are good – it has all the punch you would expect from Led Zep.  Side one is slightly better than side two, but I consider both to be in the area of VG (very good).

The gatefold sleeve is in VG condition.  The rotating wheel works fine, the corners and record opening show minor signs of wear, the spine is fine and there is only slight discolouration.  There is some creasing of the laminate on front and back.  It has the original inner sleeve with the poly liner, in VG condition.

I have entered a low starting price, because the criteria for grading vinyl is somewhat vague and imprecise, making it difficult to accurately assess it’s quality and I want to be fair and realistic.

Happy bidding.
