Wreckless Eric plus The Milkshakes’ Bruce Brand and Russ Wilkins.
Stapled to the slightly crumpled plain inner bag are two record company promotional sheets. One is a lengthy, detailed biography of the band. The second is a Tourdates list from February 1986. The promo info states: -
“The Len Bright Combo – purveyors of psychotic beat music which fuses the raw energy of the late-lamented MILKSHAKES with the legendary songwriting talents of the man they call WRECKLESS ERIC… the result? a thundering great racket – the sound of an electric guitar set into howling “feedback” against a searing din of cheap drums and over-amplified bass, meshed into a chilling primal scream…”

Amazing what 86 quid could buy back in the '80s. In Wreckless Eric's case, it paid for TLBC's entire debut, recorded in Upchurch village hall with ex-Milkshakes men Russ Wilkins and Bruce Band and still sounding startling as hell. Amid the spitting feedback and mudslide guitars, however, Eric's caustic satire and artless pop sensibility claw through, particularly on "Young, Upwardly Mobile...And Stupid" and "Someone Must Have Nailed Us Together". Imagine Reg Presley and the Sonics stomping in a phone box. Not big, but certainly clever.

lost classic
well what can i say about this album, a lost classic. with its great sense of melody and honesty , with eric, bruce and russ in a church hall & a loft the songs come alive. its just a great album and i recommend it to anyone and everyone, the lofi recording is just right, over produced and it might have lost some of the passion. the lyrics are heart felt and funny , if you like billy childish's do it yourself approach if you enjoy stiff records englishness then you cant go wrong. this album is pure genius.
Priced to sell, no reserve.
It’s probable that only a dozen or two test-pressings were ever made, few of which will survive today.
