Description
Leo Reisman and his Orchestra play two Harold Arlen tunes from the Cotton Club Review, "Stormy Weather" and "Happy As the Day Is Long," on single-sided Victor Program Transcription L-16026, which plays at 33 rpm. Arlen sings both tunes. Adrian Rollini takes some great solos on bass sax and vibes. Writes Ate van Delden in his Rollini biography: "Arlen's vocal work on "Happy As the Day Is Long" is a demonstration of excellent timing, and his cooperation with Rollini is perfect, saxophone player and singer as equivalent partners in a duet. Rollini's saxophone really pushes Arlen in a strong, swinging way and then he plays a striking solo. Working with a singer this way was something Rollini had never done before on a record."

I do not know whether the performances differ from Reisman's commercial issues of these two songs.
