Impossibly rare, non-commercial LP issued by Ford Motor Company through their Kenyon & Eckhardt ad agency. This Startime program, shown on CBS TV on Christmas Day, 1960, is a rebroadcast of a December 22, 1959 concert that featured Bernstein narrating and leading the N.Y. Philh., with the Scola Cantorum and soloists Lee Venora, Russell Oberlin, and Betty Allen, in Bach’s “Magnificat.” A highlight of the program is the appearance of Marian Anderson singing solo a carol and 2 spirituals, with the latter being included on this LP: “Behold That Star” and “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.” Completing the program and LP is the St. Paul’s Cathedral Boys’ Choir of London singing 6 popular carols.
