This week, I inaugurate a commemoration of the life and career in historic recordings of one of classical music's most gifted and prolific Conductors, Leopold Stokowski.
Offered is Stokowski's legendary early electrical Orthophonic recording of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite,1919
This is Stokowski's first electrical recording of The Firebird, which he would signature in multiple recordings throughout his long career.
This is the very collectible 12" first edition pressing has been enjoyed and is in E/E- overall condition. Note, the original jacket has lite age:otherwise fine
The performance is emblematic of what had already been called the Stokowski Philadelphia Sound
