Levi Smith’s Clefs GER Reissue 2LP Empty monkeys Mint Acid Psyche Prog
Levi Smith’s Clefs
Empty monkey
Official German reissue 2LP released in 2015 on Mayfair Music. Cat: MFM002. Comes in full gloss gatefold cover.
Mayfair Music is very proud to present Levi Smith's Clef's superb album Empty Monkey. This group played a dynamic brand of progressive rock with a heavy organ and riffing guitars. But what makes this album really outstanding is the roaring soul-voice of the band's founder Barrie 'The Bear' McAskill ! As they had the full support of Barrie during this project a lot of unreleased material popped up, including a test pressing of the first recording session in 1969. The songs on the album were re-recorded in 1970, making the first session tracks a special treat because they sound much rawer and full of sweat. Due to the vast amount of additional tracks Mayfair decided to release as a double LP in the original Gatefold Cover.
Tracks: Relief from a lighted doorway/ Shotgun/ You can’t do that/ Lisa/ The hunter/ Shake & finger pop/ Who is it that shall come/ Empty monkey/ Shake a finger pop (Alt. version)/ Lisa (Alt. version)/ Cool spot/ The weight/ Empty monkey (Alt. version)/ Roadrunner/ Hey Jude/ You can’t do that (Alt. version)/ relief from a lighted doorway.
