With in the past few years, Gospel Singing has come into it's own, but for the life span of The Shawnettee Gospel Singers it has always been a way of life. Singing has been just about as much to them as breathing. Warden and Grayson Dixon have kept alive gospel singing for more than two generations and along with Grayson's children, Teddy and Neva Rae, Mrs. Gene Calton, and son-in-law, Gene Calton, they unite two generations in bridging the gap of understanding. As they interchange vocal parts and interchange persons, they harmonize, vocalize both fast and slow to bring you several minutes of pleasure to which you will play over and over again. Pianist is Sonya Butler, on the drums is Daryl Calton and Teddy Dixon on the bass guitar. Not the least in this album are Gene and Neva Rae's children, Vernon, Daryl, Gloria, Billy and Johnny. . . .bringing a refreshing new way of presenting gospel singing. As you listen to these three generations of singers, I feel that you will pause and give thanks for dedicated people that keep this grand tradition alive. As their minister for several years I have learned to both love and respect them.
