Lightnin' Hopkins - Nothin' But The Blues - Mount Vernon
Original, clean & scarce on the Mount Vernon label. Regarded as some of the best material this celebrated Texas blues guitarist ever recorded, although some purists still hate it (although that defies explanation).These twelve tracks were originally issued on the celebrated Herald label. It's also Lightnin' at his rockin' electric best. It's all blues, but it's also considered proto rockabilly & proto rock n' roll. This is just Hopkins with his amplified (beautifully warm & distorted) electric guitar, accompanied by only slap bass and rock-solid drumming! The front & back covers are gorgeous aside from two very small nicks at the top edge & some minimal shelf wear. It's in the original shrink wrap. Labels are both sharp & bright with a few tiny marks on the A-side. Otherwise, absolutely beautiful!
I am not a record dealer, so I won't attempt to grade anything I list, as collectors often use different methods of grading.
