Lionel Hampton Quartet –
HAMP’S BIG FOUR –
Verve 23MJ 3140 –
Japanese Pressing
Supervised by Norman Granz, this is the Japanese issue of HAMP’S BIG FOUR, featuring the Lionel Hampton Quartet of old, including Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, and Buddy Rich.
A fabulous quartet, here impeccably delivering THAT OLD BLACK MAGIC I and II, BLUES FOR NORMAN, IT’S A BLUE WORLD, WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN (great), and MIDNIGHT SUN.
A Japanese release, near mint in the playing, here in a cover that has only minor edge beginning and a small ink note on back.
Best pressing of this, bar none.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $14 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $5, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
