Faye Reis, "Dont'cha Break My Heart" b/w "How Much Longer"
Condition: Very Good Plus
Vinyl 7" 45rpm Record Single
Candix 310, Released in December, 1960
Please give the video sample a listen. File size is limited to 1.5 MB, but I've tried to demonstrate the quality of each side. You'll have to bear with my cell phone recording however. I assure you it sounds amazing on the table through a proper setup.
Faye Reis released only a few records, mainly on Los Angeles, California's short-lived Candix label (excluding an Italian version of her 1962 single). Her music took some elements of rockabilly and soul, complemented by her expressive vocals, and yielded a sound that hadn't been heard in Nashville, or Detroit, or indeed any region at the time. Nevertheless she struck a chord as a crossover artist, and earned a legacy as one of Northern Soul's most desirable artists to collect.
This hard to find record is in excellent condition. It bears two blemishes, neither of which affect play: an extremely shallow paper scuff that literally disappears in the light at an angle; and a faded ink stamp from a previous owner on one side's label. The needle drop on each side is quiet, and the sounds come through from Second 0:01 through the end of each track clear as day.
This is the nicest dollar-for-dollar copy for sale here or on Discogs.
