Description
Lou Donaldson with The 3 Sounds - "LD+3" / Blue Note, BLP 4012, 1959, Mono, DG, RVG, etc. /
An early issue of this mono release. Relevant points: "47 West 63rd St., NYC" to labels, no address to sleeve (correct, per Cohen's "Guide"), deep groove, RVG stamped in deadwax, laminated sleeve, but no "P" (Plastycite symbol). So, an early pressing but lacking the "P" or indication of a true first. Deadwax: RVG BN-LP-4012-A; RVG BN-LP-4012-B-1. As above, RVG stamped, remainder etched.
A VG+ or better LP in a VG+ sleeve. Clean labels with just a hint of spindle swipe. Clean and glossy sides with a few small scratches/hairlines to each. Playgraded: some light static at the start of both sides, a few light ticks here and there but a very, very clean record in play. I've downgraded to VG+ for the fastidious, but I'd wholeheartedly recommend this copy to any listener. Later BN inner sleeve. Bright outer sleeve with a touch of shadow to both sides. "WII" penned to the rear and a touch of spotting to the edge of the rear. Three of the four corners are lightly rubbed. A small scratch and rub to the lower edge. Sleeve is very lightly warped. Numerous small flaws, but a very appealing LP. LP weight: 157g.
