Description
Lou Donaldson Blues Walk on Blue Note cat number 1593. Original mono pressing. I bought this a couple of weeks ago from the original owner. Prior to purchasing, I'd never heard of Lou or of Blue Note. Well cared for and in very good condition for a 40+ year old record. 47 West 63rd NYC on both sides of label, RVG stamped on dead space in vinyl on both sides, deep grooves in label on both sides. Prior to having purchased this I wouldn't have known what any of that meant but from what I've learned, I believe all of this should indicate that this is in fact a first pressing mono recording recorded at the original Rudy Van Gelder Studio at Blue Note original address. Record proper shows some very minor surface scuffs from sleeve I presume, label is excellent with no detectable wear, can see some very faint markings near spindle hole if held at a very precise angle to the light. Head on, it looks excellent. No detectable scratches per se but this record has obviously been played. Inner sleeve is plain white paper and I assume to be original but nothing about it to indicate it is or is not. Outer jacket is very good with most minor wear at corners, do not see the typical ring wear from sitting on shelf next to other records but there is some slightly perceptible wear to face of jacket overall. Back cover is good with a bit more noticeable wear in white areas - again, very minor but doesn't exactly have that minty feel either. Slight discoloration along top edge at front from sun fading. Opening of jacket is slightly bowed outward and will not close flat when record is layign on it's side. I expect careful application of heat or steam would remedy this but will leave that to winning bidder. Overall I would say this is in very good condition. Please be advised however of the following: I am not a dealer, I am not a collector, I am not an expert. I don't particularly like or understand jazz but I listened to this and thought it was good. That having been said, I have tried to examine this item closely and describe as completely and accurately as possible. Bear in mind that I may have missed something that you might find to be important. Please ask all questions regarding condition prior to bidding so that you are certain about what you are getting. What I consider to mean good, very good or negligent may not be be the same thing to you. I don't mean to make this sound to be worse than I describe but I simply realize this is a collectable item and condition is going to be very important to whomever wins it.
