Up for your Consideration is this 1957 Used 33-1/3 LP Jazz Album by “Lou Donaldson” titled “Lou Takes Off” Featuring "Donald Byrd" Originally released in 1957 on Blue Note Records (NO “Inc”or“R”) with a product number of BLP1591… Mono Pressing LP Vinyl: in VG++ Condition the vinyl looks good has lots of luster and shine…Under spot light Obviously been played with noticeable surface marks don’t see any scratches, when listening exhibits no major loss of sound quality although in the groove between cuts there is a little surface noise… but while playing the cuts there is NO NOISE, NO snap, crackle or popping of any kind...Paper Sleeve: Reads ”Blue Note  30years of Jazz”...Labels: both Side in VG Condition, NO INC or R …show a little dirty… blue and white, with "Blue Note Records • 47 West 63rd • NYC"… Deep Groove (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings)…Run Off or Dead Wax: "RVG" and the Ear Mark are inscribed on both sides… 9 M stamp on both sides… Plus BNLP-1591A stamped in runoff on side 1, BNLP-1591B stamped in runoff on side 2. … Album Cover: is in VG++ Condition…nice and glossy but does have some issues, Corners are a little dinged there is a 3” split on the top seam at the opening that has been nicely taped so that it won’t split any further…the opening has some of the plastic covering chipped off but it still looks good (via pictures)  the other seems are all good just have a few little nicks here and there…near the bottom at the opening there is a small 1”L surface tear …Back Cover  is in VG++ it shows a stain on the bottom right corner …it is a tiny bit little dirty around the edges…the back reads Blue Note Records., 47 West 63rd St., New York 23… overall what I see is a Used 33RPM Album in VG++ Condition … I have listed a rating chart below... I inspect everything under bright spot light and state what I see, plus I have the album played for sound quality... Please look at all of the pictures since they are a part of the description also... Bit of History

The influence of Charlie Parker can be heard in virtually every modern jazz musician, particularly players of the alto saxophone. Although considered to be one of "Bird's children," Lou Donaldson absorbed and synthesized other pre-Parker influences, such as Johnny Hodges and Benny Carter. This recording marks a period in his development prior to a stylistic shift away from bop and toward a stronger rhythm and blues emphasis. Three up-tempo tunes are pure bebop; the remaining number is a medium blues in B flat, quite characteristic of the hard bop period. The front line on this set includes Donald Byrd and Curtis Fuller; the rhythm section is Sonny Clark, George Joyner, and Art Taylor. Overall, Lou Takes Off breaks no new musical ground, but it is a solid, swinging session of high-caliber playing.
