Description
This is my first pressing of the magnificent album that sold very few copies when first recorded in 1967 by Love. Now recognised as one if the greatest albums of all time, owning an original MONO version was extremely rare. Having replaced this iconic album several times during the decades, finally settling on the superb MOFI 45 rpm double album, I am now selling my other copies. For those of you who have looked at my other albums for sale will find at least two other versions on offer. Those of you familiar with my descriptions will know that I always try to provide an honest assessment of what is on offer for the benefit of both buyer and seller. If you have any questions please contact me before bidding. Unlike most of my original albums I will confess to having played this copy several times before buying my first replacement as it is one of my favourite albums of all time. On this basis, having play graded the album, I am classifying it as VG+ bordering on EX for several reasons. Firstly I can confirm there are a few hairlines on the vinyl but no distracting pops, clicks or scratches. The surface noise does not detract from the overall quality and I have always used quality cartridges. The well known problem with the end of The Good Humor Man… occurs on every copy of the album I have ever played, including the MOFI copy. My assumption for the surface noise in the left and right channels may be partly due to using a stereo cartridge as a mono cartridge has no vertical compliance. The label is unmarked and has minimal spindle wear. Matrix/Runout (Side A, runout, stamped) EKL 4013 A1 Matrix/Runout (Side B, runout, stamped) EKL 4013 B1 Whilst I am aware of the value of this extremely rare MONO version, as I always try to price my albums by comparing the prices of other sellers with similar offerings, I am placing mine for auction on this occasion. The album cover is the fully laminated UK printed mono cover. The back of the cover has, along with many of my other ordinal albums from the 60s, a Dymo Tape label with my name on it. As always I will take a positive approach by using it as provenance. Regular watchers will already know about this teenage obsession. Apart from this the cover is in great condition and the text on the spine is still legible. The original inner sleeve included has been replaced by a modern, protective sleeve to look after the vinyl. Overall, I am offering a very rare, original Mono copy of this iconic psychedelic rock album and it would make a great addition for any collector. Thank you for looking.
