Description

Love Forever Changes

This is the third and final studio album of the original line-up of the Los Angeles based rock band, Love.  Love was the first rock band to be signed by Elektra Records in 1966, a year they released their debut self-titled album in March and a follow-up, Da Capo in November. Forever Changes was released a year later on November 1, 1967.

The album was not a commercial success at the time, but over the decades has been embraced as a rock masterpiece.  There’s a book (needed) to go over the ins and outs and ups and downs of the band and band members.  The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011.  Rolling Stone ranked it number 180 on its 2020 list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and the readers of Mojo ranked it t number eleven on their 100 Greatest Albums Ever Made.  Truly one of the great rock albums of all time.

Test pressings are produced by record companies to test the pressings of albums before going into full production.  Sometimes they would be used to get music out to publications for review due to lead times, facilitating timely reviews with street dates.  The amount of tests pressed varied on the amount of people required to hear a record for quality assurance and/or publications being serviced.  Seller is unaware of the number of test pressings on this release.

This is a test pressing of one of the many reissues (R1-74013) of Forever Changes.  Research points to it being a test for the 45th Anniversary Edition released on the Black Friday Record Store Day, November 23, 2012.  It is an RTI pressing on 180 gram vinyl.  The disc itself looks to be near mint.  The A-Side has an RTI label with the date August 20 2012 (pictured)..  The B-Side is a blank white label.  The 7” 45 RPM that accompanied the actual album release is not included. There are slight corner creases on all four corners, pictured.  Still, an amazing find.
