Description

Another terrific compilation and find from the classy folks at Sundazed.  This record is the vinyl version of the Truth Gotta Stand compilation from Michigan crew, The Luv’d Ones.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably aware of who these kids were - four girls from Michigan driven by the indomitable Char Vinnedge who not only wrote the songs, sung them and played guitar but also did the artwork, booked the gigs and even repaired the van when it broke down.

Musically, they were a tougher, more yearning take on the Shangri-Las with powerhouse clanging guitar and rocking beats.  They were also surprisingly original in their songs and performance - a genuinely unique 60s garage act and not merely a gender-based novelty.

The record is a gatefold with interesting liner notes and terrific pictures.  I have never been a fan of Gibson SGs but unquestionably the image of Char clutching one in paisley gear and white pants (see pictures) is the personification of cool
