Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

\                                             USA - (black dog label) RCA VICTOR - LSPO 3940   BEAUTIFUL MINT 1968 first pressing vinyl ..........* best * copy found in years* the cover and record are pristine M- and it's 44 years old....   Includes the original RCA printed inner sleeve   Autosalvage were formed, in 1966, by Thomas Donaher (guitar/vocals) and Darius Davenport (vocals & multi instruments). They were reputedly discovered by Frank Zappa during his stay in New York and he took a role in their sole album. The group were obviously competent musicians creating a merge of rock lyrics with avant-garde music. The tracks had interesting arrangements and melodies, notably Land 0f Their Dreams and the The Great Train Robbery are interesting and far from the only highlights. Cuts like the opening track (titled, confusingly enough, "Auto Salvage") show the band at their best -- strong melody, airy harmonies, a churning psychedelic arrangement. AUTOSALVAGE rhythm guitar & lead vocalist Thomas Danaher remembers: The Mothers of Invention [they were that!] first came to New York City -- it must have been in '67 or '68 -- to play two memorable gigs: At Andy Warhol's Balloon Farm in the East Village, and then at a small transformed movie theater beside The cafe A-Go-Go on Bleeker Street. To give you a flavor of the times: Muddy Waters followed the Mothers at the Balloon farm, while across town was Cream, in their first American gig at the Go-Go. Jimi Hendrix was also on the scene, possibly with beginning ideas for his recording studio on West 8th St., "Electric Ladyland." Newly formed Autosalvage, myself included of course, first met the Mothers in opening for them at the Balloon Farm -- in reality an old Ukrainian Hall completely festooned in silver mylar. We then played the Go-Go for a few weeks, and were further able to hear and get to know Frank and the rest of the Mothers. We loved their freaky exuberance, backed up and expressed with fantastic chops -- a liberating experience for any musician. But Autosalvage, gaining by osmosis, was the extent of our musical connection. One otherwise unknown fact for you: Frank had a particular liking for our signature song, "Auto Salvage," and at the time we were searching for a name for the band. Frank said that he would choose our "Auto Salvage" ... and so we did, but with a different meaning implied than junkyard for cars Auto Salvage (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) 5:37 Burglar Song (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) 2:20 Rampant Generalities (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) 3:10 Medley: 6:30 Our Life As We Lived It (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) Good Morning Blues (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) Ancestral Wants (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) 3:50 Hundred Days (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) 2:15 Land Of Their Dreams (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) 3:07 Parahighway (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) 2:35 Medley: 5:18 The Great Brain Robbery (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner) Glimpses Of The Next World's World (Boone/Donaher/Davenport/Turner)     CONDITION: The Cover: is nice clean M- bright fresh colors, ... no bends, no split seams, no writing...display worthy ...   The Vinyl: is all clean and glossy over both sides: M- ... looks and plays TOP level with clean RCA Vistor labels   Best copy found in ages! 1968 Psychedelic garage "THE AUTOSALVAGE
