NOTE: eBay has implemented its new FEEDBACK policy to which ANY customer for ANY reason or ANY excuse can give sellers (i.e. "us") negative feedback. Please understand, we have served thousands of "satisfied" customers and processed thousands of orders - far more than our feedback records indicate - It is our intention to give EACH and EVERY buyer our best possible service and we are known to ALWAYS deliver your purchased item. ALL items paid for are processsed 'outbound' to each and EVERY customer, satisfaction guaranteed. Keep in mind we have serviced THOUSANDS of satisfied customers and our aim is to continue to do so.
We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week. Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most. We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping. We are happy to do that. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel. To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current. Most importantly, we appreciate your business.
M- VINYL ~ 1968 FIRST PRESSING ~ CLASSIC BYRDS COLLECTIBLE !
The BYRDS
Sweetheart Of The Rodeo
USA - 360 Sound Columbia - CS 9670
Original 1968 first pressing ((M-)) vinyl on the famed collectible 360 Columbia label of the sixties ...
After Chris Hillman dragged new friend Gram Parsons into the Byrds, they made an album as close to a country masterpiece as a rock act could ever make. In fact, the only tunes better than the definitive covers here of songs by Bob Dylan ("You Ain't Going Nowhere"), Guthrie ("Pretty Boy Floyd"), and the Louvin Brothers ("The Christian Life") are Parsons's originals, especially the incomparable "Hickory Wind." Sweetheart wasn't the first rural-rock album, but with its gorgeous three-way harmonies and sweet pedal steel, it remains the best. Just some of the highlights include the opener, You Ain't Going Nowhere, is one of the best Dylan covers the Byrds ever did. The song wasn't even recorded by Dylan by this time (it eventually appeared on Dylan's Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 in a vastly inferior version to the Byrds's rendition). Some always think of it as a Byrds song first. The version of the folk classic I Am a Pilgrim is worthy of timeless spins...as is "The Christian Life" with a Gram Parsons vocal so heartfelt that even non-believers can enjoy the song. Their rendition of "You Don't Miss Your Water" is grand as well. Otis Redding covered this song too, but the Byrds give it more soul than Otis (which is not easy to do). Overall an influential epic album that only in past years finally received overwelming praise deserved...- "You Ain't Going Nowhere"– 2:38
- "I Am a Pilgrim" – 3:42
- "The Christian Life" – 2:33
- "You Don't Miss Your Water" – 3:51
- "You're Still on My Mind" – 2:26
- "Pretty Boy Floyd" – 2:37
- "Hickory Wind" – 3:34
- "One Hundred Years from Now" – 2:43
- "Blue Canadian Rockies" – 2:05
- "Life in Prison" – 2:47
- "Nothing Was Delivered" – 3:34
