Pretty killer 70's hardrock, heavy on the guitars, busy bas splaying. Mostly up-tempo rockers on this obscure album, rumoured to have been pressed in only 50 copies...their first of three LP's and by far their best and most sought after...
Much like Cain or Truth & Janey, Totty deliver a smooth, but sometimes very heavy and powerful hard rock approach. Even the song with "love" in the titles rock pretty damn hard. Not the most original or developed material, but certainly a much better record than it's obscurity would suggest.
Brothers Dennis and Byron Totty pilot a cool collection out of the Oklahoman wilderness into perpetual obscurity on this self-pressed seventies release. There's a badass, outlaw biker-rock vibe here that strongly recalls the deft boogie-heavyrock hybrid of early BOC, with tracks like "T-Town Tears" and "Crack in the Cosmic Egg" sounding like they've been lifted straight from one of those "Red & Black" era platters, a vibe driven home by tough E. Bloom-ish vocals. Other high marks include "I've Done Made Up My Mind," with it's malevolent mid-section, the clenched cowbell-clunkin' "Wicked Truth," jammin' "Somebody Help Me," and instrumental intro "Thus Saith the Lord," which spotlights the band's tasty guitar work. Based in the hard-ass boogie, but heavy and highly spirited, this one rises above your typical denim-age weekend warriors ...laying it down.
