Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. • ***The great breakout album by the raw punk garage grooves of the STANDELLS and their stunning national hit "DIRTY WATER"

    • 1966 influential hipsters within the California Hollywood Sunset Strip scene...the mighty DIRTY WATER album by the STANDELLS contains a high number of 'edgy' garage gems - "Medication," "Little Sally Tease," "Dirty Water" and "Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White." Driving the raw beat are excellent drums and outstanding Bill Wyman (Stones) influenced bass. People can be condescending about 'garage' bands, but any contemporary band could learn something about laying down an effective bass-line from this album. Dirty Water" was the Standells Tower Records classic first full album. The title song is a Punk classic reproduced on numerous "Nuggets"-type comps, and along with the five and-a-half minute "Rari" infectious fuzz punker was recorded in Hollywood. Most of the remaining tracks - originals, covers, and songs were recorded in April 1966 and were over-modulated directly to the multi-track tape, causing the finished master to become a powerful...gritty and distorted wash of sound... characteristic of the Northwest punk/garage bands recording such as the Sonics. These early recordings contained influenced later groups like the MC5.

    • Drummer Dave Dodd (an ex-Mouseketeer!) had a sexy, delicately cool and seductive voice -- Dodd sings about two-thirds of the material included and is a near-forgotton punk-rock progenitor. He could snarl with the best Jagger-imitators and convey the soft bad-boy sexiness that exudes both cruelty and vulnerability. (His vocal on the classic "Medication" is one of the most understated and seductive ever!). Despite scores of versions recorded in 1966, Dodd manages to make "Hey Joe" sound like it was written for him. Keyboardist Larry Tamblyn also contributes a couple of fine rockers. Down by the River...

    • "Down by the banks of the River Charles (Oh, that's what's happenin' baby) That's where you'll find me Along with lovers, muggers, and thieves. (Ahh, but they're cool people) I love that dirty water 'Oh oh, Boston, you're my home."

The vinyl: Rated: M- loads of original smooth shine and overall plays very enjoyable and clean.
