Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Pacific Gas and Electric was initially known as Bluesberry Jam and, at that time, included drummer Fito De La Parra. In 1968, De La Parra left the Bluesberry and joined Canned Heat. Canned Heat's drummer, Frank Cook left Canned Heat and joined what would soon be known as Pacific Gas and Electric. (De La Para obviously fared better in the trade.) About the same time Cook and De La Para swapped places, guitar extraordinaire Glenn Schwartz left the James Gang and his home town in Ohio to come to California. Schwartz was so good that the rock and roll world predicted the end of the James Gang. Interestingly, Schwartz was soon replaced in the James Gang by none other than Joe Walsh and the band continued on. After the 3rd PG&E Lp, Glenn Schwartz left the band and formed the mighty All Saved Freak Band, issuing a monster fuzz psych private press album, that is not only highly rated but worth a small fortune.

Back up three years when Pacific Gas & Electric consisted of Charlie Allen--vocals, Frank Cook-drums, Brent Black-bass and Glenn Schwartz-guitar and it was off to the recording studio. The bands first release, Get It On, immediately spurred controversy when it's album cover featured sexual innuendos in the form of a train and a bullet aimed at a pretty naked girl, the cover was censored and the album was then re-released.

Signed to Columbia Records in 1969, the second Pacific Gas And Electric Lp was more of the same, tightly wired blues rock with sizzling guitar breaks. Some of the other songs are period blues-rock stand-outs, like "Miss Lucy" and the live cover of John Lee Hooker's "She's Long and She's Tall," then elsewhere the group original "My Women" finds them getting into a slow blues-funk groove with graceful style. The four-part, 17-minute "PG&E Suite" delivers the highs of many such psychedelic rock experiments of the late '60s, starting off promisingly with the cinematic jazz-rock jammer "The Young Rabbits"  and keeps on rocking into a poor white-boy blues thing. The closing blues-soul-rock stomper "Redneck" keeps the high energy level moving.
