MADDER LAKE-BUTTERFLY FARM 1974 ALBUM,GATEFOLD COVER WITH POSTER INSERT,ON MUSHROOM RECORDS LABEL.
This is Madder Lakes second [and last album],recorded in late 1973 at TCS Studios,Melbourne.They recorded the album in less than two weeks, but this doesn't mean it was a rush job just to cash in on their popularity,Madder Lake had produced an excellent follow up album to Stillpoint.The album was released in April 1974 and sold very well[#18 on the Australian album chart] and gave the band their second gold record.Two singles were lifted off the album,"Butterfly Farm" and "Back Seat Song" but neither made the charts.Melbourne radio were heavily playing a track from the album,"Booze Blues", fans of the band thought it was the new single so Mushroom rush released the track as a single.Unfortunately for the band it only charted in Melbourne.This album is full of great songs,you get boogie on "Back Seat Song",heavy prog rock on "One Star And The Moon" and "Ride On Fast" and the spacey sounding "Mothership",a song that wouldn't be out of place on a Pink Floyd album of the 70's.Madder Lake can't be faulted on this album.This album will take you back to the early 70's, a time that produced bands and music that was never to be repeated in the Australian music scene.
Condition-The gatefold cover is in excellent condition as is the full colour poster insert apart from some light foxing. The record has light surface scratches and scuffs,but plays very well for a40 year old album.There are no skips or jumps,there is some surface noise that is mainly noticeable between tracks and on some of the quieter section of the tracks[but this is Madder Lake and there aren't to many quiet sections.]
