I'm a Who geek, and the pre-Tommy stuff holds a special place in my heart. The tracks on this album are delight for lovers of the Who's early efforts. It was released to promote "Magic Bus" but there are all kinds of esoteric delights. And two thumbs up to Lambert and Stamp. Tough to find but worth the search!
THE STORY BEHIND WHAT YOU’RE PERUSING
Recently, I purchased two large boxes of original vinyl record albums. There are some quality titles, some excellent bootlegs, and some really unusual titles. The one thing they all have in common? The vinyl is in excellent condition, with nary a scratch. I don’t have a turntable but my eyesight is excellent and these discs look like they’re going to play great.
When i eventually got rid of MY vinyl collection many years ago, it showed blatant evidence of less than meticulous care; scratches, beer stains; those records were Exhibit A in a life full of parties and sloppy handling of precious art. The gentleman who owned these treated his collection like it belonged in the Louvre.
I have been a musician for fifty years and it is a privilege to move these titles on to a new and caring home. Perhaps allowing these albums to be heard with their original sweet clarity will help rid myself of my destructive disc karma.
