Description
This is a very rare STEREO recording from 1964. It is narrated by Michael Flanders and features Mary Morris as Elizabeth. The LP is mostly spoken word, including about 2/3 of Side 2 featuring Charles Enderby discussing music and literature in the Elizabethan era. However, there is also the following music:
Fanfares from Treatise by Fantini Wanton Season (British Museum Ms 30486) Frog Galliard (Mortley: "Consort lessons" 1597) Songe betwene the Queene's Majestis and England (Harlein Miscellanny X) Turkeloney (William Ballet's Lute Book) Sea Song: Our Queen she got a ship built (Trad.) Barley break (My Ladye Nevell's Booke)
The musicians are Heather Begg & Denis Dowling (vocal); Roy Jesson (harpsichord); Philip Jones, Roy Copestake, W. Lang (trumpets)
The G&L flip-back sleeve is laminated on the front.
The disc will be supplied in a 50g protective PVC sleeve and it will be posted in a commercial Defenda LP mailer made of corrugated cardboard.
Condition of Disc The disc is clean and glossy with only faint signs of wear. I have listened to extracts and it plays beautifully. I have conservatively graded it as "Excellent" (Record Collector grading system). Condition of Sleeve The sleeve shows some shelf/handling/ring wear, but is free of tears, writing, stains or sticky labels. The unlaminated rear is a little grubby, but all text is clearly readable. Graded "VG".
International Postage (Airmail) The price shown is a maximum and is the actual cost of Royal Mail Small Packet International Signed For. After you have paid, if I can find a cheaper equivalent courier to your country, I will refund the postage saving to your PayPal account.
