MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original MGM Records High Fidelity Mono press released in Chile by MGM Records late 1961, made and distributed by Goluboff Industrias Fonográficas S.A. (Goluboff Records), catalog number SG 186, with hand etched matrix numbers 61-XY-688 in Side 1 and 60-XY-1143 in Side 2, with traditional yellow/black MGM Records labels. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER GREAT FIND FROM CHILE!!!

This single was originally released in July 1961 and we didn’t have to wait much because the same year it was released here in Chile. As usual in the Chilean MGM records of the period, the song titles are written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters as the only additional information. But if you know Malcolm Dodds and you know this single you will have already noticed that here in Chile the songs are inverted, because in original US issue the song in Side 1 is “Without A Song”!!! And more, you can also notice here in Chile they used the same original US matrix numbers but in Side 2 label the matrix number, correctly etched in the deadwax, is misspelled “61-XY-1143”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this classic Northern Soul single by Malcolm Dodds in this MEGARARE PRESS almost never seen!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

This single doesn’t have a cover. The record is in nice VG or VG+ condition both sides, it’s glossy and clean, with many scuffs, soft hairlines and light scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great VG or VG+ condition both sides, clear and clean, with evident wear in the large spindle hole wear, mostly evident in the large spindle hole, the name of some past owner written 2 times in Side 1 and residues of a sticker in Side 2. The sound is in strong VG or even VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (background noise was normal in records from Chile), with light constant crackles and some occasional soft pops here and there, more evident at the end of Side 1, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, a MEGARARE record pressed in Chile with Spanish-written song titles only, maybe not for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure with still a nice look and still very decent and respectable sound quality after more than 55 years old which won’t disappoint anyone. And remember IN THIS MEGARARE PRESS THE SONGS ARE INVERTED and it also has an UNIQUE MATRIX ERROR!!! And, yes, Sirs, WHAT A FIND AGAIN!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP10 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for.
