MANASSAS Down The Road (Atlantic SD 7250) Stephen Stills US Pressing + Insert MINT
RARE early US pressing of Manassas` second album "Down The Road", released on Atlantic Records (April 1973).
Although not as sprawling and stylistically diverse as the band`s first album "Manassas", "Down The Road" was an excellent follow-up and made for a promising future outlook. A sublime cross between country-rock -courtesy of the twin attack of former Burrito Brothers Chris Hillman and Al Perkins- and dense, latin-tinged rhythms (Joe Lala, Dallas Taylor), the musical breadth of "Down The Road" remains an exquisite earful even today.
Sadly, bandleader Stephen Stills opted to rejoin erstwhile buddies Crosby, Nash & Young, with financial interests unfortunately winning out over creativity.
GRADING:
EX++ to MINT- COVER with minimal wear. Please see photos for details.
- Bump with minor damage to opening edge, at center.
- Very light corner scuff (at bottom right).
- Also includes the original insert/lyric sheet in MINT- condition.
- Tiny saw cut (2 mm long) on the spine (at bottom).
MINT- RECORD with practically no signs of ever having been played.
- Near-perfect vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction.
- Atlantic Records labels in very fine condition, with a single spindle line on each side.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded EX++ to MINT(-) condition: You will not find another copy of "Down The Road" as nice as this one - especially at this bargain price. "True value for money" is the motto here!
