Sleeve Design - Laminated single sleeve front with cardboard rear. Full colour front cover with all band members pictured in front a steam locomotive. Band name is in White and album title in Red. Tracklisting in white at bottom left of front sleeve. Fontana graphic in Red at top right of front cover. Rear of sleeve is White with all lettering in Black. Band description on left of rear with tracklisting on right of rear.
Record Details The sleeve is in overall very good condition as shown in the pictures provided, it is graded at VG. The front of the sleeve has some small creases in the lamination. There is a very small amount of damage to the lamination (as shown in the picture) at the bottom right of the sleeve. All four corners are in tact yet do show some small signs of wear. The spine of the sleeve is in excellent condition with no damage or creasing, all text is bold and legible. The rear of the sleeve has no worrying concerns at all with all four corners in tact. The bottom right corner has come away slightly however this could be easily rectified. There is a small amount of staining on the white cardboard element of the rear of sleeve, however all text is clear, bright and legible. When you consider that this sleeve is over 50 years old, it has no real concerns at all and is a lovely example of a very rare sleeve.
The record itself plays through with no issues or concerns and is graded at VG, it has a clear sound throughout. Side 1 has small surface marks that in no way affect playing or sound. Label on Side 1 has spindle marks as shown on picture. Side 2 has minimal surface marks that in no way affect playing or sound. Label on Side 2 has spindle marks (less than side 1) as shown on picture.
I have used the Rare Record Guide grading system to grade the overall condition of both the sleeve and the record itself.
Record Collector Magazine Grading System:
MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be Mint.
EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding.
