Following the demise of Manfred Mann, Mike Hugg and Manfred Mann pursued
their jazz/rock path by forming Chapter Three as a sideline to their lucrative career
writing successful television jingles. This brave project was originally called Emanon
and included Bernie Living (alto saxophone/flute), Steve York (bass),
Craig Collinge (drums) and featured sessions from some of the finest
contemporary jazz musicians including Harry Beckett, Derek Wadsworth,
Chris Pyne and Dave Quincey. They immediately established themselves on the
progressive rock circuit, but could not break out of the small club environment.
Their two albums were excellent and imaginative but came as a considerable shock
to those old fans who expected anything akin to Manfred Mann

It's light years from the airy pop of "Do Wah Diddy Diddy," recorded by the hit-making
first group formed by South African Manfred Mann and Mike Hugg in 1963.
This is as much jazz as rock. There's hardly any guitar, but a swaggering horn section
compensates. Imagine a darker, moodier Traffic with Mann manning the organ instead
of Steve Winwood. Hugg's raspy vocals are featured on the first album recorded
with the new band. The standout tracks are the album-opening "Travelling Lady"
and "Time," but they are hardly the only strong ones.....(AllMusic)
