Description
MANUEL
And the RENEGADES
The record may not look like much, but what's in the groove will really slay you. Manuel & the Renegades begin “Woody Wagon” " and a spare guitar twanging it out in surf style. A Wipe-Out style drum intro follows and we are off into a great jam and some cool picking with a wet and echo-laden guitar.
From the look of the record label, and the name of the bandleader (Manuel Rodrigues), it's a pretty safe bet this is part of the great Chicano instrumental rock & roll / surf scene in Los Angeles.
This is on the little Piper Records label and is from April 1963. It's the first of the only two singles the group ever cut. On the flip is another hot rod / surf instrumental called "Surf Walk"

CONDITION: VG+ This has a sticker on one side, and it’s been placed over a similar sized tear in the label when the owner changed his name on the record (!?)
