Marc Brierley
Hello
Rare 1969 Folk LP
Misaligned label
I am selling around 200 records that were owned by singer/songwriter, John Cooper. John wrote songs that were used on Jimmy Webb albums and was also close friends with folk/blues guitarist, Davy Graham.
John sadly passed away recently and his family have asked me to sell some of his record collection so they can donate the proceeds to the Ayrshire hospice, who looked after John in the last few months before his demise.
The record collection includes many rare folk, blues and rock albums,EP's and singles from the 60's and 70's ni varying conditions. Please bookmark me over the next few months as I plough through the records.
Marc Brierley
Hello
Rare 1969 Folk LP
Misaligned label.
Marc Brierley's second album boasted considerably more colour in the arrangements than his 1968 debut Welcome to the Citadel had. Perhaps the production input of Ashley Kozak, who had been Donovan's manager, helped move Brierley in the more melodic, accessible direction that characterised Donovan's brand of folk-rock. (For that matter, sidemen Harold McNair, on flute, and Tony Carr, on percussion, had played on some of Donovan's fine 1960s recordings.) Brierley's not a "Sunshine Superman," though, and while it marks an improvement from its predecessor, Hello is still pretty tame, unmemorably effusive period late-'60s British folk-pop/rock. The mood ranges from light bonhomie with a vaudevillian speckle ("Sunny Weather"), earnest flowery orchestrated folk-pop ("Lady of the Light" and "When Martha Comes"), and jazzy bossa nova ("Lookin' Around the Room") to more melancholy and acoustic material, the title track recralling both Donovan and Al Stewart. Dudley Moore supplies his keyboard skills into the mix.
Tracks

2. Lady Of The Light - 2:52

6. The Room - 7:42
7. Byrd Lives - 1:28

Very hard to find LP in any condition With unusual Misaligned label on Side 1!
The gatefold sleeve is in fair condition. The sleeve has tears down the spine side, spreading a couple of inches on to the front of the sleeve, which makes the spine illegible. Card feathering at the top edge. A record shop label attached to the rear. See photos.
Vinyl in good+ condition with noticeable surface scuffing / marks in bright light that cause some crackle in play. A couple of noticeable scratches that can’t be felt and don’t affect my overall grading. No skips or jumps.
Label has a name written on Side one. As stated, the label is not centred (very unusual). It does not overlap or interfere with the playing surface.
Not the best copy you’ll ever find, but a very difficult album to acquire. A must for any rare British folk collector.
