OSCAR ESPLA
SONATA DEL SUR / NOCHEBUENA DEL DIABLO. HISPAVOX (HH-1001) 195? Spain
Incredibly rare lp featuring the wonderful Marcelle Meyer on ‘SONATA DEL SUR’. Espla conducts the ORCHESTA NACIONAL DE ESPANA. Comes in Deluxe gatefold cloth bound sleeve. It’s a wonderful piece, who Meyer premiered in Paris in 1945. This is the mid 50s original thick flat edge disc. Ultra rare. Cover is EX- with only light age wear. A very small piece of paper missing on the top of the print on the front cover (see scan) still a great looking cover. Vinyl is EX. The Meyer side is very clean with no visible scuffs. A couple of very very light, nearly transparent sleeve scuffs can be seen in strong light or sunlight. Play is very nice with light surface noise and a couple of soft ticks mostly at the start. The ‘NOCHEBUENA DEL DIABLO’ side has a few deeper scuffs that affect play with occasional loud ticks – no skips. Overall, a very nice looking/sounding record
