Description

Margaret Barry & Michael Gorman - Her Mantle So Green - Irish Street Songs & Fiddle Tunes (UK Topic - 12T123 - 1964 Ex- / Ex)

Lovely condition 2nd issue from 1970 of this very scarce early Topic album. Recorded by A.L. Lloyd and Bill Leader in London between 1955 - 1957 , it also includes Tommy Maguire on melodeon, Paddy Breen on whistle and Patsy Goolden on piano .

Laminated front cover is clean and shiny with a couple of faint 'half moon' creases bottom left - this . Non-laminated rear cover is clean and white with no rubbing or damage.  There are a couple of faint 'mottling' marks top right, but this does not detract from the overall look. All corners and edges are clean and sharp. Original blue & silver Topic labels are clean with no spindle marks and heavyweight vinyl is clean and shiny with that 'as new' sheen. Gorgeous !

This album comes from a collection that has been stored carefully and unplayed for 30 years.

The record will be despatched in a strong cardboard mailer, with extra card either side for added protection. It will be in a plastic sleeve with the disc removed to avoid seam damage during transit.

Thanks for dropping by and be sure to check my other items.

STOP PRESS ! :

I have recently uncovered a number of privately printed folk magazines which I will be listing over the next few weeks. It includes copies of Bob & Carole Pegg's 'Abe's Folk Music' (1968), Keith Summers' pre-'world music' 'Musical Traditions' (1983 - 85), Tony Russell's exhaustive booklet on The Carter Family (1973) and Music From Sliabh Luachra (Cork / Kerry borders) (1976), Alan Ward's 'Traditional Music' (1975 - 78) and Tony Russell's 'Old Time Music' (1973 - 76). This is a serious collection with some fantastic rare interviews, detailed discographies and unusual features and is a great opportunity to bag some difficult to find material. Keep em peeled !
