Description
Marguerite Long, born November 13, 1874 in Nimes, France - died February 13, 1966 in Paris, was a French pianist and teacher. She studied with Henri Fissot at the Paris Conservatoire, taking a premier prix in 1891, and privately with Antoine François Marmotel. From 1906 to 1940 she taught at the Paris Conservatoire, and in 1920 she succeeded Louis Diémer as professor of piano. She also taught privately. In 1943 she and the violinist Jacques Thibaud established the Marguerite Long - Jacques Thibaud International Competition for violinists and pianists, which takes places each year in Paris.
4 records electric Disques Gramophone, French HMV DB 5103 - 06: Fauré, Quartet in G minor No 2, op. 45, , matrices 2LA3350-1 to 3357-1, all take 1, except 3351-2 , played by Marguerite Long piano, Jacques Thibaud violin, Maurice Vieux alto and Pierre Fournier cello. Recorded in Paris 10th. May, 1940.
This fine recording is very rare !!!
Condition: 1-2 / 2 slight scuffs.

1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used
1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes
3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible
3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.

About me :
Since 1966 I collected 78 rpm records, principally classical pianists. I was looking in many, many second-hand and charitiy-chops, collectors fair, fleamarkets and so on in France, Germany, Austria , Italy and of course in Switzerland. I had always a good contact with others collectors in Great Britain and in the States. Since 1970 I was for a long time member of the City of London Phonograph and Gramophone Society, from 1985 member of the Schellack-Schallplatten-Sammler-Verein, Vienna and from 1990 until today member of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives IASA, section DE/CH. I’m not a « really » record collector, more an admirer of the pianists and a music lover. If you have any problem about 78 rpm records or a want list ( I never found any record of Grieg ( except the Historic HMV ), Ilona Eibenschütz, Alexander Michalowski and the legendary Pathé of Bernhard Stavenhagen ) please inform me.
