Marillion : Script For A Jester's Tear (USA 1st Press Promotional Use Only - Property Of Capitol Records)

For this auction I am selling a number of Fish/Marillion records and the vast majority of them have been incredibly well preserved.  I am moving house soon and I want to 'shift' a lot of my stock quickly so unfortunately do not have the time to describe each track in detail as I generally do.  Rest assured I will still play every track in full so as to provide a 'complete' grading.  I will adhere to my usual standards :-)

This promo first pressing from the USA plays to a superb standard for the vast majority with very little intrusion.  The sonic quality is very impressive for an album that is 40 years old next year.  It has the 'Property of Capitol Records - Promotional Use Only' stamp in the top right corner of the single piece cover which is in excellent condition.  A rare album to find today and especially at this starting price!

The audio on S1 is Ex+ (Near Mint for the majority)

The audio on S2 is Near Mint (T1 intro Ex)

The cover is Ex-

The inner sleeve is Ex+

The labels are Mint-

Visual grading

The vinyl is in excellent shape with no scratches.  There are 3/4 hairlines that are a little more obvious but they have no affect on the audio.  It has some of those faint 'sweep' marks that are caused during the pressing of the record but they are very faint and again have no impact on the audio.  There is barely any spindle wear and this record has clearly not been overplayed.

Play Grading

The classic title track has only minimal static on the intro and then plays with great power and depth.  A little crackle for 3/4 seconds during the next quieter section and then the final section cannot be faulted.  'He Knows You Know' has only some static and one click in the quieter passage and then 'The Web' ends the side with superb audio and very little intrusion.  There is very minimal static and just a couple of light ticks/clicks.

The intro on 'Garden Party' has only minimal static and thereafter plays with stunning quality.  'Chelsea Monday' plays with exceptional clarity when you consider how many quiet sections it has, there is only very minimal static again.  'Forgotten Sons' ends the album with 'high end' audio, a stunning version.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The single piece cover is in excellent condition with only light wear.  The edges have only minimal rubbing and the spine just has one small scuff in the centre.  The corners are in excellent shape with only a little wear on the bottom two.  The cover is unmarked and as can be seen it has the Capitol Records promo stamp in the top right corner.  The plain white die-cut inner has no side splits or tears, just a little creasing.
