 Gaye, who blended the soul music of the city with the beat of gospel music hits include "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," "Ain't That Peculiar" and "Sexual Healing". He was shot to death by his father in 1984, a day before his 45th birthday. Marvin Gaye made an amazing contribution to soul music in general and the Motown sound in particular. In his early days at Motown, he played drums and piano on tour and in the studio for the likes of the Miracles and the Marvelettes . He wrote and cowrote songs for himself and other Motown artists, including the all-time soul classic, "Dancing in the Street," by Martha and Vandellas. As a solo artist, he recorded in a variety of styles, ranging from crooning pop balladeer to gritty soul singer to socially conscious auteur of ambitious concept albums. At every stage in his multifaceted career, he projected an air of honesty and conviction driven by a fervid idealism. In the words of biographer David Ritz, Gaye's voice was that of "an angel trapped in a man." He was tragically shot to death by his father in 1984, a day before his 45th birthday.  Diana Ross, singer and actress, was initially a member of The Supremes, signed in 1961 after an audition at Motown. After a decade and 12 number one hits, the Supremes had become the third biggest pop act of the sixties, trailing only the Beatles and Elvis. It was at this point, in 1970, that Diana Ross decided to strike out on her own. She won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress in "Lady Sings the Blues". In 1993, Ross unveiled her star on the "Sidewalk of the Stars" outside of Radio City Music Hall at an inaugural ceremony with 15 other artists. And in 1995, Berry Gordy presented her with the Heritage Award for Career Achievement at the ninth annual Soul Train Music Awards. She also made a trip to the Soul Train Hall of Fame later that year when she was inducted during the 25th Soul Train Anniversary. The LP is in perfect condition considering its age, the signatures have also both stood the test of time and are still perfectly clear. The item has been extremely well preserved in a protective cover. Marvin Gaye autographs are extremely rare to come by especially those of genuine proven authenticity.
