Description

Here's a lovely record, intrinsically and outwardly as well:  PAUL WHITEMAN AND HIS ORCHESTRA, in their great 1927 / 8 sides, "MARY" and "MISSISSIPPI MUD."

The Whiteman band, of course, had reached its absolute musical zenith by '27 and '28. This record features the immortal BIX BEIDERBECKE on cornet, BING CROSBY- with and without the Rhythm Boys; FRANK TRUMBAUER (C-melody sax), BILL RANK (trombone), IZZY FRIEDMAN (clarinet); and the winning IRENE TAYLOR in a sassy vocal on "Mississippi Mud."

“Mary” is take -4, “Mississippi Mud” is take -2.

Besides being on smooth laminated stock, this Australian HMV also retains the original data inscribed by the session engineer in the center of both sides.  This is rare, as that info usually was squashed out of existence in the labeling process. I’ve included a couple of photos to highlight this.

This original 1937 lam Aussie HMV E.A. 2764 is in beautiful E+ condition.

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
