Description

I hope that anyone who has bought records from me knows that I try to describe each item individually and accurately.

I also guarantee everything which I sell. I try not to resort to hyperbole when I offer a beautiful example of a stunning record.

However, this time I must say that this is one of the finest examples of one of the greatest British psychedelic records I have ever had the privilege of owning. It's the first self-titled LP from May Blitz who only released two LP's. It's on the original UK 'swirl' Vertigo label. The catalogue number is 6360 007. It is an original UK release from 1970.

May Blitz were a heavy, highly talented, guitar-oriented three-piece band led by drummer, Tony Newman, formerly of Sounds Incorporated and the Jeff Beck Group. The music is stunning - this is one of my favourite psychedelic LP's - and the condition of this LP is as good as you will find anywhere. I never grade anything as 'mint' by the way but this is close.

OUTER SLEEVE - This is a gatefold type and is in superb condition with minimal wear. It is not laminated. The edges and spine are also in superb condition with only minor wear at the corners. The wording along the spine is 100% readable. The inner art of the sleeve is in superb condition. There is virtually no wear here. I've graded the sleeve Ex++.

INNER BAG - This is a standard Vertigo expanded swirl type with the 'British Patent No.800513 & 973939' black wording at the bottom left hand corner and the statement that 'PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS...ETC' printed in black. It also states 'MADE IN ENGLAND 0171' in the bottom left hand corner. It's in great condition. The inner bag has been graded Ex++

RECORD - This is in beautiful condition with almost no surface noise at all at any point on either side of the record. There are absolutely no jumps on either side and there are virtually no pops and clicks. It is in shiny condition and looks superb.

LABELS - These are in fine condition and feature on side one the large 'swirl', while on the other there is a smaller 'swirl' at the top of the label and track listings for sides one (on the left) and two (on the right). There are minor spindle marks on both sides which show that the record has been played a few times.

The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - 6360007 1Y//1V  11  1 - side two - 6360007 2Y//1  2  3. Some of these numbers are not 100% clear. I've graded the record as Ex++.

I believe that this is a fair grading and all my items are fully guaranteed. The winner of this auction will be disappointed.

THERE IS NO RESERVE ON THIS RECORD.

TRACK LISTING - SIDE ONE - SMOKING THE DAY AWAY, I DON'T KNOW?, DREAMING - SIDE TWO - SQEET, TOMORROW MAY COME, FIRE QUEEN, VIRGIN WATERS.

BAND MEMBERS - TONY NEWMAN, DRUMS, VIBES, BONGOS, CONGAS - REID HUDSON, BASS GUITAR, VOCALS - JAMES BLACK, LEAD GUITAR, LEAD VOCALS.
