MAYFIELD’S MULE
Emidisc acetate, circa 1969
This is a unique opportunity to acquire a 33rpm acetate featuring five early tracks by Mayfield’s Mule (named ‘Avery’s Mule’ on the label), including an alternate version of their November 1969 single Drinking My Moonshine. The others have never been released in any form, to the best of my knowledge.
The music feature vocals, guitar, organ, bass and drums, and is in a snappy mod-rock style.
The tracks are as follows:
SIDE ONE
1. Case Of Loving Life (3:15) – an upbeat, organ-driven pop-rocker, with an intense mid-section.
2. Feste (The Sad Clown) (3:43) – a wistful ballad, with a cool organ solo.
3. Heap Big Wampum (3:24) – a driven mod-style rocker, with a fine guitar solo.
SIDE TWO
1. Drinking My Moonshine – a different version of their debut A-side.
2. untitled (5:00) – another upbeat pop-rocker with impassioned vocals, which gradually gathers a full head of steam. It features some backwards parts, which may or may not have been intentional, but sound pretty trippy. No track title is given on the label, but it’s clearly the work of the same band.
The disc has minor marks, and plays through with no skips, sticks or jumps, with only light surface noise.
This is guaranteed not to be a bootleg or counterfeit.
Payment is expected promptly via Paypal.
I insist on sending via registered mail.
Within the UK, the cost is 3.50 GBP. To Europe it's 9.00 GBP. To the US or other worldwide destinations it's 13 GBP.
I will of course be happy to combine postage if you win more than one item.
I remove the discs from the sleeve and pack well with card stiffeners to avoid damage in transit.
Thanks for looking, and good luck!
