Description

  MEET THE HI LATINS LP, 1965 JGF Records USA. Condition is vg+/ex, sleeve is clean with a bit of corner dinging, vinyl is very clean. Looks like it was played only once from the spindle marks. RARE NYC Latin Boogaloo Soul LP. I borrowed this description from someone with more expertise than myself...

Artist The Hi-Latins Song "Meet The Hi-Latins" Label & # JGF #1003 (1963) Vinyl VG++ except two songs with light clicks. See individual gradings!! Labels: NM ! see scans below Picture Sleeve or Cover  Poor see scan I/4 of cover bottom subjected to mold and humidity. Remarks ULTRA RARE !! ULTRA GOOD !!! Not too many copies were manufactured, reason unknown!!!

This LP has to be one of the rarest....I could find one copy in the internet selling for $280.00 and not in this condition Why an excellent recording is so rare?? I think because of poor distribution and publicity. Besides being a tiny New York label, JGF gave the distribution process to Montilla Records a label specialized in spanish recordings and other pop material (Los Chavales De España, etc) and it was very rare that they get this group of top musicians under them. I can not recall a single LP of latin dance music distributed or issued by "Montilla".

Gil Suarez, its leader, was a gifted pianist and composer, playing with top bands like Johnny Pacheco, Willie Bobo, Joe Quijano & Ray Barreto!!!

Others were: Joe Canoura on flute and tenor sax, he played with Charlie Palmieri.
