An absolutely SUPERB copy of this mega prog-rock rarity! Plays as mint!!!! Amazingly rare in any condition this album has reached cult status due to its massive scarcity and (Unusually for most of these hyper-obscure prog records) the quality of the music.

This auction is for the massively rare DERAM 1st UK PRESSING (not the more common German Decca Pressing). This record sold in tiny amounts during its initial run and so was shelved with only a few copies in circulation. Because of this this album occupies the position of being the rarest Deram album and one of the most sought after prog-rock records. When this record does (rarely) come up for auction it is usually FOBAR, not so with this copy which looks EX+ and plays NM.

Now for the music… This is a seriously great prog record and I find it very hard to understand why it did not set the world on fire on its initial release (although I find it very easy to understand why it sits on the top of every serious prog-rock collectors want list!).  Amazing guitar work with some monster riffs and killer solos complimented by some demented flute work and some awesome rock vocals by Les Humpheries. Added to this is the occasional saxophone and mad percussion. The album mixes folk, soul, psychedelic, world music and blues elements with rock to create something really dense and unique. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!

GRADING

SLEEVE: VG+

Sleeve is in really great condition barring a few faults. The surfaces are clean and free from any staining or wear. Similarly, there is no edge wear.

The bad news... Unfortunately some fool has decided to use tape to repair a seam separation to the bottom of the sleeve. There are also some wrinkles to the laminate at the top front right hand corner and two small creases more centrally which look to be manufacturing faults. The unlaminated rear is surprisingly free from any staining or wear although there is the very slightest suggestion of ring wear.

The spine is true and legible although there are a couple of breaks to the laminate. These are remote from the spine text. All in all a really fine sleeve that would grade as EX if it were not for the taped seam. Obviously there are no splits or tears to the sleeve.

The record looks ABSOLUTELY STUNNING being bright and clear of any scratches. A couple of very light scuff marks can be seen under a 100w bulb. These do not affect playback at all. There is a little mottling from the record having sweated into the poly lined inner but this, of course, does not affect playback. The record sits flatly on the turntable and retains its deep lustre.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. 
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. 
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
