Description

Ravel: La Valse. Ibert: Escales. Conducted by Paul Paray with the Detroit Symphony. 33 RPM.

Sealed. Never played. Stored upright in my collection. These are no longer in production.

This is one of the best LPs from the famous Mercury Living Presence series. Bernie Grundman and Mike Hobson at Classic Records worked together with the late Wilma Cozart Fine on these vinyl reissues which also included 45 rpm versions.

According to Harry Pearson of the Absolute Sound: "It’s the La Valse you have to hear, particularly in Paray’s almost apocalyptic reading, one that suggests Vienna and Austria waltzing their way into the destruction of the Second World War."
