Description
Here is a great item for audiophile collectors of MERCURY "Living Presence" stereo classical albums. Up for auction is a scarce and pristine album featuring HOWARD HANSON conducting the EASTMAN-ROCHESTER ORCHESTRA and the Eastman Chorus, in performances of three works:
- WILLIAM GRANT STILL – Sahdji
- CAMARGO GUARNIERI – Three Dances for Orchestra
- ALBERTO GINASTERA – Overture to the Creole “Faust”
Catalog number is SR 90257. This is the first time I have seen this rare title. Jacket has color-back reverse, label is burgundy with silver print, has deep groove in label, matrix numbers are machine stamped, “A2 / FR 1” on Side One, and “A1 / FR 1” on Side Two.
Jacket is in excellent condition with no splits or stains, there is a bit of writing on the reverse of the jacket where the original owner wrote a small reference number in the upper right corner (R 02793), and placed check-marks next to each of the three titles. Overall a very fine jacket with no serious problems.
Condition of vinyl is exceptional, I would grade NEAR MINT without hesitation except for a couple very slight tics at the beginning of each side, almost unnoticeable. Displays full mirrorlike original gloss, appears to have been played not more than one or two times and handled with care. The brilliance and clarity are superb, and I am certain that the winning bidder will be very pleased. As always, your satisfaction is guaranteed. This is a great sounding record.
