Writing a review is hard enough when you can identify what about the music moves you. Putting it into words that convey any real meaning is another matter; few master the skill and I don't pretend to get anywhere near being able to convert abstract thoughts to eloquence. When you are unable to establish what exactly it is that you love about the music, then putting it down on paper becomes somewhat of a futile exercise. This long-winded preamble is my way of stating that I love this album but have no idea why! There are identifiable elements - the short, crystal clear plucked guitar passage, the expressive chord changes, the dynamics or the hard-to-identify styles. Put it all together and you get what? Beats me! This amalgam of psych and Prog with folk influences sounds distinctly English but is both unlike anything in particular, yet like many that came before. When all is said and done it matters little. I like it!
