METALLICA - RIDE THE LIGHTNING - 1984 MEGAFORCE TRUE 1ST PRESSING - MRI 769 For sale is a genuine first US pressing of Metallica’s classic Ride the Lightning on Megaforce Records (MRI 769), released July 1984 — before the Elektra reissue. This is a Metallica grail!
Key Details & Misprints (Early Pressing Markers):
• Silver center labels with the famous “Fight Fire” abbreviation on Side A (track 1).
• Back cover misprint: “For Whom The Bells Toll” (plural “Bells”).
• Inner sleeve: “Kirk Hammet” (missing one “t”).
• These confirm this is one of the earliest pressings — highly sought after!
Condition:
• Vinyl: Light play, but does have an audible click in the last 20 seconds in the fade out of "Escape" on side 2. Other than that, this copy plays beautifully! Virtually no background noise! Raw original mix with strong bass.
• Cover: Normal light shelf/ring wear, with some minor creasing. The cover maintains a nice gloss with no staining. Pretty decent shape for 40 years old. Please look at pictures closely for the best description. I am not a professional vinyl record grader.
• Also includes the original lyric inner sleeve with some seam splitting.
