METALWOLF ?– Down To The Wire LP - rare '80s metal from Pennsylvania
Rare original release from 1986, their debut of two albums.
A review (not mine) : "Other bands that spring to mind are Sweet Savage (USA), Maxx Warrior, Kick Axe, Keel and others of the US melodic/glam scene from the time. The album has it’s tougher, harder-hitting moments, with ‘Beg Borrow and Steal’ opening with some rough and confrontational riffs and having an aggressive NWOBHM feel – likenable to Brunel meets Holland, meets Buffalo. Anyway, a very melodic album with heaps of charm if you have a soft spot for this stuff like I do. Definitely quality, though not to the level of Dokken or Scorpions.
The Dokken flavour comes through in tracks like the aforementioned. It has a growling, crunchy guitar undertone, with dazzling, melodic shred-work over the top, and the giveaway early 80’s LA tone and harmonics. This one has a powerfully delivered vocal chorus that sounds passionate, yet poppy. ..."
