Description
This rare collector’s item is one of five test pressings in the world. It was pressed from a new metal mother before Mobile Fidelity released it in1979. This particular album has never been played. There are no pictures of the record alone as it has never even been removed from its inner rice paper sleeve.
I acquired this album just before Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs moved to Sebastopol from Northridge in the early eighties. I was an employee of MFSL at that time, but didn’t move when they moved.
It has been kept in climate controlled conditions since its manufacture. I added the inner cardboard folder to keep it from damage when I moved to Florida. Other than the times it was moved from Los Angeles, it has been kept in a “Sound Safe” (pictured), to keep it rigid and was never ‘leaned’ against other records. When it was moved, I packed it just as they were packed when MFSL shipped them to the world - alternating the spines and in a double corrugated JVC box that they were shipped from Japan in.
I will personally pack the album (I have packed hundreds of these in my life) with TLC and a lot of cardboard - top bottom and edges!
For a collector of MFSL products, or a George Benson fan, this is the ultimate analog gem of Smooth Jazz.
