Description

This is my personal MFSL box set of the Rolling Stones Original Master Recordings that I purchased new back in the 80s when it came out. This is a factory second product. As you can see from the photo, it does not have a serial number on the inside of the door. Way back in the late 1980s, I used to work at a record store that sold a lot of MFSL product and we did some inside business with them as well (finding high quality covers for MFSL to photograph for their covers). To make a long story short, I had some inside info on how to buy one of the relatively few factory reject box sets for less money than the numbered edition. Personally knowing that the quality of MFSL's seconds was superior to any other record company's firsts, that was an easy sell for me. Typical of an MFSL second, the only thing I could ever tell was wrong about the set was that the door doesn't line up exactly. That's it. The records are superb. That's all that really matters in this set anyway. Their vinyl was always the highest quality, even on seconds. This set is also missing the Geo-disc (which you can still buy, if you need one). Other than a missing needle aligner, a slightly wonky door, no serial number, and very minor wear on the box and jackets, this box set is stupendous. The records are all in near-mint shape as I played some of these records only once or twice, some no more than a dozen times. I will grade the box itself as the worst element at EX and everything else at NM- to NM. It is also the cheapest price you will find on the internet for this set. It is not perfect, but it is darn close in the important parts.
