Description
This is the great classical LP release of The London Philharmonic Orchestra –conducted by Sir Georg Solti performing Holst: The Planets, on MFQR 1-510. This is the UHQR (Ultra High Quality Record) version. This is an open copy. Everything is in Mint to near mint shape or better. This set was numbered record 3475 of 5000 but it is better than that! ..Please read on!
With this is; the original outer box-carton ( a very strong near mint with just a very small wear spot on the corners. Beautiful condition overall!) , the protective foam sheets, the Technical Specifications Manual & the 5 ½” x 8 ½” certificate of authenticity card. Both are in the packet-sleeve which is inside of the cover. Also, the special printed protective cardboard sleeve, the regular white cardboard insert for the record itself & registration card are here. All of these are still in perfect condition yet. (Please see photos).
What makes this set a bit out of the ordinary, from the typical UHQR boxed set, is that the vinyl record itself is equal to a brand new sealed copy! This has a brand new, never played or even removed from its rice paper sleeve, 200 gram UHQR vinyl pressing! I purchased this brand new UHQR replacement LP from mofi’s dealer in Australia (since 1985) who had gotten this directly from Mobile Fidelity. MFSL set these aside for customer warranty replacement purposes, sales return, type situations. And in such a case you don’t need the outer box, because the customer already has it. Anyway, they didn’t need it & when they were going out of business, sold it to him. This Vinyl is flawless & perfect; it has never been played! So the original vinyl Lp that came with this set, I sold separate years back & replaced it with this absolutely flawless new record. I never played or cleaned or did anything with this copy. You will not find a better copy of any UHQR vinyl than this one. Again, it is BRAND NEW. I totally stand behind this with my reputation & 1072 positive rating! Will gladly refund money if unhappy- upon return. But I can promise, that won’t be necessary …..
This whole set has been stored upright in a protective mylar sleeve. Remastered here as only Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs can do it! Special care taken through out the manufacturing process. The UHQR LPs were the best, most technically near perfect pressings that Mobile Fidelity did! & of those, this really is one of the finest LPs mofi ever did period....

This was originally released in 1979 on the Decca label. MFSL released this in the 1980’s.
This recording & performance is considered by most to be among the finest ever done of Gustav Holst’s (1874-1934) masterpiece: The Planets.
