MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find very first Stereo press released by Tamla Motown Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1972 by Corporación De Radio De Chile S.A. (CRC Records), licensed from Motown Record Corporation, USA, catalog number SM-114, with hand etched matrix numbers M-1191-A SM-114-A EB-CD in Side A and SM-114-B EB-CD in Side B, with yellow/black Tamla Motown Records labels and solid center. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile for all fans, lovers and collectors of Michael Jackson and Motown, the first record by Michael Jackson released here in Chile!!!

“Got To Be There” was the debut solo single of Michael Jackson, it was originally released in USA in October 1971, it became an immediate hit and early 1972 we got the single released here in Chile. Song titles are written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and additional information of publishers with play time of each song. If you know this single, you could have already noticed that in the deadwax of Side A it’s etched the original US Motown catalog number, “M1191F”, with the “F” omitted as you can see and compare in this link: https://www.discogs.com/es/Michael-Jackson-Got-To-Be-There-Maria-You-Were-The-Only-One/release/1043510, but in Side B it’s etched only the Chilean catalog number. WOW!!! As already said, A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Michael Jackson and Motown, a record with unusual yellow/black Tamla Motown labels and solid center almost never seen!!!

This record doesn’t have a cover. The record is in VG- or VG condition both sides, still glossy and clean, but with many scuffs, hairlines and scratches of all sizes and in all directions, which don’t affect play, with Side B closer to VG- or even G+, which make you wonder if record will play properly, and it does. Labels are in nice VG or VG+ condition both sides, clear and clean, with only some spindle hole wear, writings in both sides, some age browning and faint blemishes. The sound is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with light constant crackles and occasional pops and clicks, clearly more evident in Side B, which don’t cause major distraction from the still loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE PRESS, sure not for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but it keeps a decent and still respectable sound quality after about 46 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone!!! And don’t forget this MEGARARE PRESS almost never surfaces and “Got To Be There” with yellow Tamla Motown labels and Spanish-written song titles is almost never seen!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

We have an unique value worldwide:

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending on thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP10 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for.
