ULTRA RARE MICHIGAN NOVELTY BREAK IN BACKED WITH KILLER SURF INSTRUMENTAL!
Lawrence And Johnson "Our Little Tragedy/Washtenug" (Carol-Ray)
The A-side of this is a novelty "break in" record, done in a basement in Grand Rapids around 1963. The songs featured are ALL local records from the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, including cuts from The Kingtones, Ruth Ann And The Invictas and more! I am supposed to be getting a complete run down of all the songs from the original producer of this record soon, and will post the information when I receive it.
The B-Side is a way cool surf instrumental by the group "The Lawrence Company" who had another more tepid garage record on this same label called "Moonbeams". This is an uptempo guitar based surf instrumental that is absolutely dynamite!
ACCORDING TO THE PRODUCER OF THIS RECORD, ONLY 200 COPIES WERE EVER PRESSED, MAKING IT ONE OF THE RAREST NOVELTY BREAK-IN RECORDS OF ALL TIME! THE FACT THAT IT HAS A KICKIN' SURF INSTRUMENTAL ON THE FLIP ONLY MAKES IT THAT MUCH MORE DESIRABLE! IN TWENTY YEARS OF DEALING IN RECORDS FROM THE MICHIGAN AREA, THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND COPY I HAVE EVER SEEN OF THIS. THE OTHER IS IN A PRIVATE COLLECTION! BID ACCORDINGLY! THE SOUND SAMPLE FEATURES BOTH THE BREAK IN AND SURF INSTRO SIDES!
Condition is VG++ approaching NEAR MINT! I doubt this record was played more than once or twice in the 40+ years since it was pressed!
